Went to extract my left upper wisdom tooth the week before Chinese New Year, under painful circumstances.
The story goes like this:
I was having dinner with my Mom at the "zi char" food stall opposite my place. We ordered many yummylicious dishes - Assam Curry Fishhead, Furong Egg & Prawn Paste Spring Roll... all good food that I like. But as I was happily eating halfway, I suddenly felt a sharp jolt of pain at the back of my mouth~! THE PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE, SO MUCH SO THAT I TEARED... =(That's the story that led me to extracting my left upper wisdom tooth @ National University Hospital.
To me, the painful & scary part of the whole extraction was the injection of the anesthetics - 3 jabs into the mouth wall & gum to numb the nerves! Now, the dentist told me that the left upper wisdom tooth has already decayed quite badly, but can be extracted on that day, without any surgery. But there was another wisdom tooth at the bottom left that he said, needed to be extracted surgically. However he said to make another appointment, because I surely won't be able to enjoy my Chinese New Year goodies the following week when I go visiting... =PAnyway, he proceeded to extract my upper left wisdom tooth. I thought that the pain would be excruciating! But in a manner of seconds after I saw the pliers enter my mouth, a few hard tugs from the dentist, and WALA! my wisdom tooth was out! Didn't even feel any pain! That's why I said the injection was worse than the actual extraction. Amazing Shit, man! The dentist is GOOD lah... that's all I can say! U ROCK, DR. INTEK!

That's my "badly decayed" wisdom tooth with blood on it...
You can see that half the tooth is virtually gone...
That's my upper left wisdom tooth I got back from the dentist...
So now, on Thursday, 5th February, I'm back at NUH to remove the other wisdom tooth (lower left). This time I'm more afraid, cuz surgery is involved. Anyway, in the end, I realised it wasn't such a big deal either. The whole thing only took 30mins... and then it was done! I would have thought it took longer than that, like at least an hour, but 30mins? That's even shorter than the time I took to travel from Potong Pasir to NUH... =S But having said that, the procedure was not that enjoyable at all too. They injected more jabs this time & it hurt, as usual but still endurable. Then they covered my clothes, hands & eyes with those green cloth you see in those TV drama series... The tiring part was trying to keep my mouth wide open while the dentist drilled into my tooth, so they can be extracted by the pliers later on. I mean "You are cutting & drilling in my mouth! Cut me some slack if I can't keep my tired mouth wide open~! It's my natural instinct!"... (Well, I feel alot better now that I've gotten that off my chest). After all was done, they stitched up the cut in the gums, had me chew onto a gauze & asked me if I wanted my tooth back which I decided not to because it was bloody & in fragments. They sent me off to pharmacy to collect my medicine and soon I was my way home on a taxi, with a numb cheek & bleeding gum...No hard foodstuffs, porridge will do. No hot drinks, only cold drinks (I wonder why?)... Ice cream was recommended too... coooool~ =P
As soon as I reached home, the effect of the anesthetic was gone, along with the numbness. And the PAIN started to set in... and WOOOOHOOOO I'm telling you: It's not a good feeling at all! =(
Now the pain is still there, & my left cheek is swollen! =(
