NO LONGER WISE WITH MY WISDOM TOOTH GONE~?

Went to extract my left upper wisdom tooth the week before Chinese New Year, under painful circumstances.

The story goes like this:
I was having dinner with my Mom at the "zi char" food stall opposite my place. We ordered many yummylicious dishes - Assam Curry Fishhead, Furong Egg & Prawn Paste Spring Roll... all good food that I like. But as I was happily eating halfway, I suddenly felt a sharp jolt of pain at the back of my mouth~! THE PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE, SO MUCH SO THAT I TEARED... =(

That's the story that led me to extracting my left upper wisdom tooth @ National University Hospital.
To me, the painful & scary part of the whole extraction was the injection of the anesthetics - 3 jabs into the mouth wall & gum to numb the nerves! Now, the dentist told me that the left upper wisdom tooth has already decayed quite badly, but can be extracted on that day, without any surgery. But there was another wisdom tooth at the bottom left that he said, needed to be extracted surgically. However he said to make another appointment, because I surely won't be able to enjoy my Chinese New Year goodies the following week when I go visiting... =P

Anyway, he proceeded to extract my upper left wisdom tooth. I thought that the pain would be excruciating! But in a manner of seconds after I saw the pliers enter my mouth, a few hard tugs from the dentist, and WALA! my wisdom tooth was out! Didn't even feel any pain! That's why I said the injection was worse than the actual extraction. Amazing Shit, man! The dentist is GOOD lah... that's all I can say! U ROCK, DR. INTEK!

That's my "badly decayed" wisdom tooth with blood on it...

You can see that half the tooth is virtually gone...

That's my upper left wisdom tooth I got back from the dentist...
So now, on Thursday, 5th February, I'm back at NUH to remove the other wisdom tooth (lower left). This time I'm more afraid, cuz surgery is involved. Anyway, in the end, I realised it wasn't such a big deal either. The whole thing only took 30mins... and then it was done! I would have thought it took longer than that, like at least an hour, but 30mins? That's even shorter than the time I took to travel from Potong Pasir to NUH... =S But having said that, the procedure was not that enjoyable at all too. They injected more jabs this time & it hurt, as usual but still endurable. Then they covered my clothes, hands & eyes with those green cloth you see in those TV drama series... The tiring part was trying to keep my mouth wide open while the dentist drilled into my tooth, so they can be extracted by the pliers later on. I mean "You are cutting & drilling in my mouth! Cut me some slack if I can't keep my tired mouth wide open~! It's my natural instinct!"... (Well, I feel alot better now that I've gotten that off my chest). After all was done, they stitched up the cut in the gums, had me chew onto a gauze & asked me if I wanted my tooth back which I decided not to because it was bloody & in fragments. They sent me off to pharmacy to collect my medicine and soon I was my way home on a taxi, with a numb cheek & bleeding gum...

No hard foodstuffs, porridge will do. No hot drinks, only cold drinks (I wonder why?)... Ice cream was recommended too... coooool~ =P

As soon as I reached home, the effect of the anesthetic was gone, along with the numbness. And the PAIN started to set in... and WOOOOHOOOO I'm telling you: It's not a good feeling at all! =(

Now the pain is still there, & my left cheek is swollen! =(

LIN CLAN REUNION DINNER '09:

After tutorial today, I caught a bus down to Jurong Point. Coincidentally, I bumped into my course mate cum IA pal, Ching Heng & his friend, Violet. Violet is one of my course mate too, just that we never really got to talk & know each other. Anyway, thanks to them, my bus ride to JP wasn't that boring & I got to know Violet better...

I went to meet up with Caryn as soon as I arrived. She was with Iddy, shopping for yoga mats... Iddy, LiXia & her are going to take up Yoga... so cool eh! I finally caught up with them, & they passed me free food! A white chip macadamia nut cookie from Subway, my favourite! (YUMMY~!!!)...

We went to the new NTUC Fairprice to shop for our steamboat items: plastics plates, bowls, cups, spoons, crabsticks, prawnballs, meatballs, seafood tofu, vegetables, mushrooms, quail eggs, sotong, chicken, shabu shabu pork, pig liver, prawns, rice vermicelli, udon & drinks... Altogether $105 worth of food, enuff to feed a table of ten! Hahaha... It was supposed to be the Lin Clan who are doing the shopping together, but all except Caryn & me, suddenly got things to do... Nvm lah, as long as everyone turns up for the dinner, that will do.

Thankfully by the time we have finished our grocery shopping, Anli & her boyfriend, Daniel, drove & picked us up from JP back to my hall. Then we went to 16D kitchenette to prepare all the food for the steamboat. Fortunately Caryn's friend, Eugene's room was just beside the kitchenette & they had all sort of cooking utensils, which we fully maximise their use! Haha. We boiled & peeled the quail eggs, cut the veggies, mushrooms, meat, sotong... Caryn was totally amazing, displaying her skills in the kitchen. Much to learn from her we have...

Caryn, our Lin Clan chef...

Finally...
Mahjong table laid, steamboat fire up, chicken stock boiling, food all prepared & placed neatly. Time to chuck in!

Wanted to take more pictures but forgot to charge my battery... Oppps

Caryn, Anli, Daniel, Vincent & I were the first batch of people to start eating. People came & go throughout the whole dinner... Vincent ate halfway & left for meeting, leaving his place to be taken over by Woods. Woods is a new friend I made tonight, during the steamboat feast. She was acquainted with Anli, Daniel & Vincent. She happened to walk past the kitchenette & was drawn in by our food. And being the friendly & hospitable Lin Clan we are, it goes without saying that we invited her along to join us in our feast! Next we were joined by Melissa who came after her dance class. She hasn't ate since that morning but still didn't really eat much during the meal.

Then Eugenia came, but Anli & Daniel went to get ice & drinks from SRC. By the time everyone was back, everybody was pretty much full, even me... who never stopped eating (who was going to finish all that food, if I stopped! hahaha) So, since everyone was full & there was still food left behind, what else to do but to play "終极密码". Loser will eat a bowl of foodstuffs placed by everyone! We were having so much fun that we extended the game to the losers washing the utensils & cleaning up the place...

Amount of food left, & everyone's "pitiful" face stuffed with food!
